The
word
‘SAMADHI’
need
not
be
always
related
to
giving
up
the
human
body
or
as
a
way
of
renouncing
this
world
by
giving
up
life.
The
fruit
of
meditation
is
Samadhi.
It
brings
Kaivalya
or
absolute
independence.
Samadhi
gives
Moksha.
This
is
the
culmination
or
climax
of
Yoga.
With
the
advent
of
the
knowledge
of
self,
ignorance
vanishes.
With
the
disappearance
of
the
root
cause,
viz
–
ignorance,
egoism
etc.,
also
disappears.
Samadhi
is
union
with
the
Lord.
It
is
Super-conscious
state,
wherein
the
Yogi
gets
super
sensual
bliss.
It
is
Adhyatmic
Anubhava
(Divine
experience).
The
mind
melts
in
the
Eternal
or
the
Atman,
like
salt
in
water
or
camphor
in
flame.
Samadhi
installs
you
in
the
Atman.
Through
Samadhi,
the
finite
self
is
absorbed
in
the
infinite
or
absolute
consciousness.
It
leads
to
the
unity
of
the
Jivatman
(individual
soul)
and
the
Parmatman
(Supreme
power).
The
knowledge
that
you
obtain
is
Divine,
super
sensual,
intuitive
knowledge,
where
reason,
inference
and
testimony
cannot
go.
Samadhi
is
inner
divine
experience,
which
is
beyond
the
reach
of
speech
and
mind.
The
state
of
Samadhi
is
beyond
all
relativity.
It
cannot
be
expressed
by
any
language
or
means.
In
Nirvikalpa
Samadhi
there
is
neither
physical
nor
mental
consciousness.
There
is
only
spiritual
consciousness.
There
is
only
the
existence
of
SAT
(Truth).
This
is
your
real
Swaroopa
(nature).
When
the
water
dries
up
in
a
pool,
the
reflection
of
the
sun
in
water
also
vanishes.
Similarly,
when
the
mind
melts
in
Brahman
(GOD)
and
the
mind-lake
dries
up,
the
reflected
Chaitanya
also
vanishes.
The
Jivatman
or
individual
personality
goes
away.
There
remains
Existence
alone.
Samadhi
is
of
two
kinds,
viz
–
Savikalpa
Samadhi
and
Nirvikalpa
Samadhi.
Savikalpa
is
a
lower
Samadhi.
In
Savikalpa
Samadhi
the
Samskaras
or
latent
impressions
are
not
burnt
completely.
There
is
support
for
the
mind.
In
Nirvikalpa
Samadhi
the
Samskaras
or
latent
impressions
are
burnt
completely.
There
is
no
support
for
the
mind.
